Insurance Preparedness Session with Gippsland Community Legal Service.

Understanding Insurance Coverage

Each year, severe weather events and natural disasters worldwide destroy assets worth hundreds of billions of dollars. In many cases, only a small portion of the loss is insured. While most insurance policies cover bushfire, many do not include cover for damages caused by other events.
Do you know if your insurance coverage is sufficient to protect your family and assets?

Free Insurance Preparedness Workshop

The Mirboo North Community Recovery Working Group is delighted to host the Gippsland Community Legal Service, who are kindly offering a free workshop on 20 February, from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at the Baromi Centre, Mirboo North. GCLS, the same organisation that provided free legal outreach services at Co-space between April and December last year, will guide you through:

  • Different types of insurance (home and building, contents, farm insurance)
  • The difference between sum insured versus total replacement cover
  • Understanding policy exclusions and risks
  • Steps to take after an event, what to expect from the claims process, and how to resolve disputes

The session includes case study discussions, and attendees are welcome to bring their own insurance documents to better understand their personal coverage.

To reserve your space, email: lisa.golding@southgippsland.vic.gov.au
If you were unable to attend the event, you can view all the slides here.
