The Mirboo Recreation reserve held their Mirboo Community Christmas recently, on Friday 30th November. The local families came together to celebrate the festive season and the installation of the new BBQ in the Pavilion. The BBQ is a vision in stainless steel and replaces the old coin-operated BBQ with one that is now free for the community to use.
The Mirboo North & District Community Foundation, and the South Gippsland Shire Council, whose community grants programs helped make the purchase of the new BBQ possible were acknowledged on the night by Rhona Evans, the president of the Mirboo Rec Reserve Commitee.
The replacement of the old rusty BBQ located in the Mirboo Rec’s Pavilion, will not only benefit local community members who use the pavilion for picnics, tennis players utilising the facilities, but also the visiting workers and day-trippers that are commonly seen using the pavilion for a lunch stop, and will help maintain a sense of social cohesion across the Mirboo community whenever the community comes together.
