Community Planning is underway!

We are off and running with the launch of the community survey at the Community Market last Saturday, 29th August. There was quite a buzz as people stopped at the BBQ shelter to ask questions and pick up an information postcard. Some filled in the paper survey on the spot, whilst others scanned the QR code to fill it in on their phone. People were excited to have their say about what they love about the town and what they think is important for the town and community in the next 10 years.

The community survey is the first step in creating a new community plan for Mirboo North and district (the last one is over a decade old), with local community organisations, Mirboo Country Development, the Community Foundation and the Community Bank stepping up to facilitate the process.

Every voice counts and the more people contribute, the more the plan will reflect the aspirations and needs of the community” said Community Planning Working Group member Ruth Rogan.

You may be wondering why a community plan is necessary? A community plan provides evidence to funding bodies and others that the community is self-determining and has a vision for its own future. It can help get resources and funding into the community where it is most needed. It is a document that says, “This is what is important to us!”.

Behind the scenes the working group is gathering information about what we already know, what we already have and what some of the gaps might be, to inform a community planning day early next year, where the survey results will also be presented.

The survey is open for the month of September and can be found online with some additional context at https://www.mirboonorth.com/community-plan/.

There are also paper copies available.
You can pick these up and drop off completed surveys at the Library, Op shop, Community Bank, Post Office and Community Foundation.
Posters and postcards with QR codes will also be at other shops around the town.

Don’t delay. Fill in your survey today. Your Voice…Our Future.
