MN Community Recovery Fund: Update

The Mirboo North Community Recovery Fund was set up two years ago in the days immediately following the February 2024 storm to receive the generous donations from individuals, community organisations and businesses who wanted to support those who had been impacted by the storm.
This fund received almost $95,000 in donations.

Over the last two years more than $75,000 has been granted to support a range of community led projects, including arts workshops, live music events, the Storm Cell volunteers clean up, gatherings, the Stormbirds program at the schools, guided walks, Biolinks mapping, gift vouchers from MN nursery, Plant Hope and a design for the MN community garden.

Supporting Families, Connection and Everyday Healing

The most recent grant was at the start of the swimming pool season: thirty five storm impacted families whose children undertook the Stormbirds Program at the Mirboo North Primary School received family season passes for the Mirboo North Pool.

Later this month the Recovery Fund is also supporting ‘Summer Feast’, an evening of food, music and fun organised by MCDI and the Community Foundation. Taking place in the park off Baths Road, beside Baths Road Reserve and the Pool, there will be food trucks with a range of food options (and some free food!) as well as live music. On the same evening the Mirboo North Swimming Pool is having a fun day including free entry, and ‘Nessy’ inflatable and entertainment.
